Jyotiraditya Scindia Age

Congress Leader Jyotiraditya Scindia was born on 1 January 1971 in Bombay.

Jyotiraditya Scindia Family

Scindia was born to Madhavrao Scindia and Madhavi Raje Scindia. He is a grandson of Jivajirao Scindia, the last maharaja of the princely state of Gwalior.

Later upon his death in 1961, his son, Madhavrao Scindia (Jyotiraditya’s father) became the titular Maharajah of Gwalior.

Madhavrao Scindia died in a plane crash on the outskirts of Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh on 30 September 2001. Soon his son was symbolically anointed as the head of the family.

He studied at Campion School in the city and at The Doon School, Dehradun. Later he studied Economics at Harvard University and graduated in 1993. In 2001, he received an M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Jyotiraditya Scindia Wife

He married Priyadarshini Raje Scindia of the Gaekwad family of Baroda. Soon she attended Mumbai’s Fort Convent School and later Sophia College.

Later in December 1994, she married Jyotiraditya, a junior minister in the Indian government and member of parliament from Madhya Pradesh. Soon the couple have one son and one daughter.

Mahanaryaman is the son of jyotiraditya. Mahanaaryaman, who completed his schooling from The Doon School, Dehradun, is now pursuing graduation in Management from US.

Jyotiraditya Scindia Union Minister

Soon people of Guna elected Scindia to the Lok Sabha (Lower House of the Indian Parliament) in February 2002, which his father formerly represent.

Later people re-elected him in May 2004. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh introduced him to the Union Council of Ministers in 2007 as Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology.

He was then re-elected in 2009 for a third consecutive term and became Minister of State for Commerce and Industry. Later, he became Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power.

Later Prime Minister Manmohan Singh appointed him as Minister of State for Power in November 2012 in a cabinet reshuffle which drafted a number of younger politicians into the Indian cabinet, including two other scions of princely families, R. P. N. Singh and Jitendra Singh

Jyotiraditya Scindia Biography

He is chairman of the regional Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) in India.

Scindia is President of the Board of Governors of Scindia School, Gwalior, which was founded by his great-grandfather, Madho Rao Scindia, in 1897.
