Sridevi Death

Bonny Kapoor spoke to his wife on the morning of 24th February 2018 and did not tell Sridevi about his plans of travelling to Dubai.

Bonny Kapoor had travelled to Dubai on an “unscheduled trip” and reached the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel at around a quarter past six. He caught Sridevi by total surprise and both “hugged and kissed”

The couple chatted for fifteen minutes and then decided to go for a “romantic dinner” before Sridevi went into the bathroom of her room number 2001.

I went to the living room while Sridevi went to the master bathroom to bathe and get ready.

While he watched cricket after freshening up. Later he became restless around 8 pm, it being Saturday, he felt restaurants would fill up and he called out his wife twice from the living area.

When he did not get any response, he knocked on the bathroom door.

He panicked and opened the door which had not been bolted from inside. 

The tub was full of water and Sridevi was immersed completely, from head to toe, inside the tub. Devastated, he reached out to her but watching her motionless, he feared the worst.

Sridevi Dead Body

After her death Dubai Public Prosecution completed all regular procedures followed in such cases.

As per the forensic report, the death of the Indian actress occurred due to accidental drowning following loss of consciousness. The Dubai Public Prosecution closed the case.

Dubai Public Prosecution approved the release of the body of the Indian actress Sridevi to her family following the completion of a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of her death.

It remains unclear whether Sridevi fell unconscious after or before the drowning. He immediately called his friends who were shocked to know that Sridevi had died.

Doctor pronounced Sridevi dead on 24 February 2018 at 19:00 GMT at her hotel room where her husband had found her.

Sridevi Death Reason

Dubai Police started the investigation to her death began next morning around 2:30. The government transferred the case to Dubai Public Prosecution.

General Department of Forensic Evidence, Dubai revealed that the cause of death was “accidental drowning”.

The toxicology report later also revealed that traces of alcohol in her body, and water in her lungs.

Sridevi suffered from low blood pressure. So when she lay in the bathtub in extremely hot water, with her entire body, except her head, in the water, the blood pressure went further down.

This made the blood rush down from her head to the lower parts of her body.  This made her feel giddy and semi-conscious.

The doctor inferred that because of the low blood pressure and the consequent flow of blood from her head to the other parts of the body which were inside the hot water. So she could have lost complete consciousness and drowned in the tub.

Had the husband not entered the bathroom, he would have, in all probability, lost his wife that day as she would have drowned in the water.

Sridevi Dead

After a few days of police investigation, on 27 February, Police closed Sridevi’s case. Same night, her husband and her stepson, Arjun Kapoor flown back her body to Mumbai, India on a private jet belonging to Anil Ambani.

Her husband Boney Kapoor funeral took place on 28 February, at the Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium in Mumbai. Boney Kapoor performed the final rites.

Her family cremated Sridevi with state honours and also received a gun salute at her funeral.

On 3 March, her husband and her two daughters Jhanvi and Khushi flew Sridevi’s ashes into Tamil Nadu via Chennai. They immersed her ashes in the sea off the coast of Rameshwaram.
