Rajnath Singh Caste

Politician Rajnath Singh was born in the small village of Bhabhaura in Chandauli district, Uttar Pradesh in a Hindu Rajput family.

Rajnath Singh Son

Pankaj Singh (born 12 December 1978) is an Indian politician who is currently working as General Secretary-BJP, Uttar Pradesh. He is the elder son of Home minister Rajnath Singh.

Presently he is MLA of BJP from Noida Legislative assembly seat. Later on March 11, he won the Noida constituency in the 2017 State Assembly Elections.

He was born into a family of farmers and went on to secure a master’s degree in physics, acquiring first division results from the Gorakhpur University.

In 1964, at the age of 13, he joined Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He remained connected with the organisation even during his employment as a physics lecturer in Mirzapur.

In 1974, Bharatiya Jana Sangh leadership appointed her secretary for the Mirzapur unit, predecessor of Bharatiya Janata Party. In 1975, aged 24, Singh was appointed District President of the Jana Sangh.

Soon he became Member of Legislative Assembly from the Mirzapur in 1977. Rajnath Singh became the State President of the BJP youth wing in 1984, the National general secretary in 1986 and the National President in 1988. He became Uttar Pradesh legislative council.

In 1991, he became Education Minister in the first BJP government in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Later he became Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and voter elected them twice as MLA from Haidergarh in 2001 and 2002.

In 2003, PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee appointed Singh as the Minister of Agriculture and subsequently for Food Processing in the NDA Government.

After the BJP lost power in the 2004 general elections, it became main Opposition Party. He became the BJP National President on December 31, 2005, a post he held till December 19, 2009. Later in May 2009, people elected him MP from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.

On 24 January 2013, following the resignation of Nitin Gadkari due to corruption charges, Singh became the BJP’s National President.

He contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow constituency and subsequently elected as a Member of the Parliament.

Narendra Modi government appointed him as the Union Minister of Home Affairs, he sworn in on 26 May 2014.
