Stalin is the third son of 3rd Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and DMK Chief M. Karunanidhi, and was born to his second wife, Dayalu Ammal.

Durga is the wife of Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin, who is the working president of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) political party.

He is popularly called as “Thalapathy” MK Stalin. He is the son of Karunanidhi, former Tamil Nadu CM. Durga married MK Stalin on 20 October 1975. They have two childrens, a son named Udhayanidhi Stalin, and a daughter named Senthamarai Stalin.

Udhayanidhi Stalin is the son of former Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu MK Stalin and the grandson of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu late M. Karunanidhi.

Later he did schooling in Don Bosco and his degree in Visual Communications from Loyala College in Chennai. Udayanidhi Stalin is an Indian film producer and actor, who has worked on Tamil-language films.

Soon he entered the film industry as a film producer and distributor with his production studio, Red Giant Movies.

He has one daughter named. His daughter Senthamarai owns Sun Shine Sr Secondary School in Tamil Nadu.

MK Stalin Biography

Stalin completed a pre-university Course at Vivekananda College, and has a degree in history from Presidency College, Chennai in University of Madras.

His political career began when, as a 14 year old, he campaigned in the 1967 elections. In 1973, party member elected Stalin to the General committee of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(DMK).

He came to limelight when government jailed him under Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) for protesting against the Emergency.

People elected Stalin four times to the Tamil Nadu Assembly since 1989 from the Thousand Lights constituency in Chennai. Stalin became the city’s first directly elected Mayor in 1996.

Stalin was an MLA in 1989 and 1996 when his father Karunanidhi was the Chief Minister but he was not inducted into the Cabinet. He contested and became Chennai’s 44th mayor but the first directly elected Mayor in 1996.

It was only in his fourth term as MLA that he was made a Minister in the Karunanidhi cabinet and his rise is slow and steady. They further point out that Karunanidhi has even expelled his other sons M.K. Muthu and M.K. Azhagiri when they were guilty of wrongdoing

On 3 January 2013, Karunanidhi named Stalin as his heir apparent, thus ending a long time confusion about who would take over the party reins after Karunanidhi’s death.

Party Member designated Stalin as the Working President of the DMK on 4 January 2017. On 28 August 2018, Party member elected him unanimously as the DMK Chief after Karunanidhi’s death.
